PRTC to Hold “Ex-Racehorse Job Fair”

There are more than 40 former racehorses at Bowman Second Chance Thoroughbred Adoption in need of homes and we will introduce several of them at our “Ex-Racehorse Job Fair” from 2:30 – 4:00pm on Oct. 12,, 2013 as part of PRTC’s annual Open Barn. We will showcase several OTTBs we have retrained for new careers in various disciplines and Bowman will have an ex-racer on hand who can be adopted onsite. Known for their big hearts and can-do attitude, OTTBs excel in a variety of new jobs after racing – everything from jumping, eventing and dressage to trail riding, ranch work and western gaming events. Our goals are to educate the public about the many horses available for adoption, encourage other local horseman to participate in adoption and retraining, and find good homes for these high quality Thoroughbreds. Our New Badlands Mustang

Patriot's Star

Introducing Patriot’s Star, our lovely new blue roan filly and our very first mustang! She is a wild horse, born in the Badlands of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park spring of 2013, by the blue roan stallion Sidekick and out of the dapple gray mare, Snip’s Gray. We purchased her at a park sale held to manage the herd size. The Badlands mustangs come in a wide variety or colors, sizes and lineages and have a fascinating history dating back to the days of Teddy Roosevelt and the early settlers. We are proud to own a piece of North Dakota’s heritage and to give her a good home.
